What are the conditions for a computer user to gain agency, defined here as the ability to evade automatisms? What is the user’s horizon of autonomy within a built world made of software programmed by somebody else, when its logic is made inaccessible in the name of convenience? (...)
In the Feminist Hack Meeting #1 @mara introduced us to mailing lists migration with Mailman. The migration of feminist lists hosted by the systerserver project was realised successfully and we went through the 'pain' all together! Here are some photos/screenshots from that day.
Thanks to all the participants who joined!
On Monday, March 8 we stop. Together with Bye Bye Binary, Constant joins the feminist strike to call attention to the difficult conditions under which people* keep things going in the street, at school, at home, on call, in the hospital, on the server, at the distribution center, in the supermarket... We strike in solidarity with all those who cannot stop and with those who are forced to stop. We strike to demand an end to sexist, racist and queerphobic violence — to binary regimes — to income inequality — to feminicide — to the exploitation of migrants — to precarious work.
@manetta and I have been working on a small online module about #bots as digital #infrapunctures for @cc_utrecht, where the latter is a term that draws attention to stress points in infrastructures and stimulates thinking about how to intervene. We welcome feedback and thoughts on it, it is a work that will continue in different ways.
