Our peertube instance is up and running now. Turns out our apache configuration was not the issue, but the database extensions and ownership.
We can move to a more creative path now, such as finding a name for our instance, curating content, styling the interface, etc.
byte-tube looks like the most favorite, though it is taken by this channel
hmm.. is that a problem? they are quite nice also.
Feminist Hack Meetings #3
At Varia + online
#Spideralex will introduce us to Feminist #Futurotopixs. This workshop will enable participants to dream, invent and desire together feminist #technologies. They will invent narratives, speculative fiction and radical imaginaries that work as alternatives to existing oppressive or dystopian models. The workshop is oriented at co-designing stories and creating new worlds as processes to imagine and #dream together about feminist desired futures.

I spoke to artist Joana Moll about her new piece for the Media Wall at The Photographers' Gallery last week.
We discussed microprocessors, their impact on the environment and the role of artists and the art world in the transition to a less polluting society.
You can read our conversation at Unthinking photography:
I'm experimenting with a browser plugin to change gendered pronouns to gender neutral, (part of my research in online governance, a cohort organized by columbia boulder college of media).
Inspiration comes from own and other feminist comrades, experiencing gender bias in FOSS communities.
Today at 15:30 CET I will participate in a conversation together with Caroline Sinders around societal issues and bias in technology referring to feminist artistic strategies critically addressing them, as well as the proposals that our work from different angles offer as an alternative.
Maybe some of you are interested to tune in. 👾

Zineing with (F)eminist (H)ack (M)eetings @SPREAD Zinefest (at Sign Gallery at Groningen), with lots of scanning, printing, binding, patching, folding, annotating, re-reading, messing.
It was amazing to see such a rich zine collection made by the hosts of SPREAD from feminist, artist zine makers from far away.
Thanks all the zine contributors who send their feminist zines and participants of the workshop.
Check out the FemLib with links from the publications of the contributors in the wiki fhm.varia.zone :)

Of all the greyzones of our readwrite worldings, bibliographic self-defence constitutes a specially powerful one. Self-defence, resistance, counter-weighting and mutual support operations of immense technopolitical value keep taking place at what can be termed "peripheral literature areas" such as bibliographies, footnotes, indexes, acknowledgement pages, colophons, library metadata and side annotations, where trans*feminist, anticolonial, antiracist, queer, crip, antispeciest, antifa and atiageist solidarities take very tangible and specific forms.
The devices we surround ourselves with are an increasingly complex and extremely heterogeneous matter. In a short workshop we will investigate the materiality and inevitable politics of electronic components. We will take an interdisciplinary approach to dissect specific objects in terms of their material, socio-cultural and ecological dimension.
In this process we will dismantle and dissect components to their very building blocks, investigating components from the Electronica Depot.

About the wildfires here in Greece. It is frustrating and sad to read accounts of survivors pointing out that no firefighters were there to help. The state sent evacuation messages too early, in fear of being accused of inflicting deaths. They also didn't allow fire trucks to enter forest paths for the same reason. We had fires that lasted more than a week.
Another little generator project. This is a tool made for the art event Lesbiennale (https://lesbiennale.art), aimed at the organisation team so that they can create pictures for their social network accounts by playing with the automated layout of the tool. Then PNG files are generated and can be downloaded.
Print-making gets messy, stressful but also fun! We are sending new geeky stuff to spreadzine festival in Groningen NL. Exhibition at sign project space 17 - 26 September.
