@liaizon hey, it is really cool, if I say so myself. During 5 weeks, we learn together, about physical computing, some python, Blender and 3D, webby dev beginnings.
15 people can join, origins this year are from Tibet to Iran, El Salvador, Ghana, Turkey, Palestine, Ukraine, Azerbeidzjan. Age range, from 22 to 52. Gender balance is ok. We don't ask about papers, nor on asylum procedures, we leave that up to the participants, what they want to disclose or not.
Of course, often we know they live in an asylum centre, because of the address.
It's not only learning, but equally important to be together, expand your network and knowledge. Especially far far away from the stereotype of "the immigrant".
I feel privileged to be a part of that, and to be able to organise it in a great team ( from Iraqi origin, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Mexico, Palestine, Iran) all multitalented, fun, sharp human beings. In a way the origins are secondary, but they spice up the conversations and exchange. Bridging. And some teasing
