Well, no doubts that the relationship between Fascism and Futurism is underplayed in much literature – not only Wikipedia – especially art literature.
The reality though is that futurism had many souls: fascist, left, anarchist.
The main reason for that is that futurism precedes fascism – hence it cannot be described as a fascist art movement but, at best, an art movement that coversed with fascism .
For sure, Fascism got interested in futurism and some of its themes – e.g. violence, war. But also less interested in other themes such as the abolishing of marriage.
Marinetti’s personal story is probably the one that most explicitly describes this love and hate relationship with fascism..
More than politics, I see futurism more closely related to technological utopianism/positivism/scientism and this is really underplayed in all literature...

An Ethico-Phenomenology of Digital Art Practices
Puzzling as it may sounds to some ears, this freshly published book of mine has been inspired a lot by many of you lurkers!
E-book version is the most affordable at the moment. Hardbound for libraries etc.
It will be a few months before the softbound copies will be available.
Still, if any of you get a chance to read it, I would very much welcome the conversation!
Proceedings of the 2020 International Conference on Live Coding published on Zenodo. Contains all the papers, posters, workshops, installations and concerts notes and very nice photos of the three wonderful days spent in Limerick
@mathr ohhh did not know that one thanks
@mathr nice one. When I need to modify pdf commandline is best indeed. I also use at times this little GUI, especially for booklet

A few weeks ago we published a follow-up article about the solar.lowtechmagazine.com project: "How sustainable is a solar powered website?"
The article is a very extensive research into the embedded energy costs of this setup and how to lower that. Additionally we have some statistics on visitors (865k unique), energy use (18.1 KWh) and uptime (98.2%) after more than a year of operation and what conclusions to draw from that.
There is quite some overcapacity in the system, so to increase our efficiency one approach would be to host multiple servers on that off-grid solar system. But that is scaling up. Instead the #lowtech solution we opted for is seeing how we can do the same with smaller batteries, smaller solar panel and hosting more sites on the same machine. To that end we've started migrating #french, #spanish and #dutch language sites to the solar server as well.
Anyway here is the whole thing with all the details!

New essay: Seven theses on the Fediverse and the becoming of FLOSS
Recently, @rra and I have been working on an essay highlighting questions about the #Fediverse and how these are getting entangled with #FLOSS practices. From software production to structure and governance within alternative social media, online communities and politics.
The text follows a multi theses model, to map the different things we've been looking at and publish the current state of our research.
It is the closing chapter of a new publication from INC/Transmediale (https://networkcultures.org/blog/publication/the-eternal-network)
PDF of the text: https://monoskop.org/images/c/cc/Mansoux_Aymeric_Abbing_Roel_Roscam_2020_Seven_Theses_on_the_Fediverse_and_the_Becoming_of_FLOSS.pdf
Feedback welcome. We're planning to publish an online version with more references!
Hi all, I am compiling the proceedings for ICLC in Latex and I was wondering if any of you here has any alternatives to Latex to suggest or suggestions in general on on how to approach this work (via open-source tool, of course)...
Latex is great, do not give me wrong, ...just wondering what is available out there for this kind of work...
celebration time, my book, obnoxious joy
Congrats @entreprecariat ! Will get copy for me and Uni library too (entrepreneurship became a big word over here in high management recently - strange I know, since it is not new- ... if landing on this project I think it could spice the conversation up nicely)
We are re-advertising. Deadline 25th of October (at noon)
