@benmschmidt If only Husserl had some thoughts about proof of stake versus proof of work!
hot water tanks are f*ckin.g sus. hide 80 gallons of boiling water in a closet and instead of dumping it on invaders outside the walls YOU WASTE IT ON YOURSELF.

@benmschmidt With Being and Time entering the public domain in January, you can be sure I'll be marketing a Heidegger-a-Day calendar to the masses.
Slippers are "monuments to the hatred of bending down."
Adorno NAILED it.
@jblxdesign Oh, wow. I can see that being useful in faculty meetings.
Got my #MLA23 badge in the mail. Could this really turn out to be my first in-person conference since Seattle in 2020????
@jmittell Clearly AI-generated. No last day of class looks *that* good.
When I search an online bookstore for “Robert’s Rules of Order,” Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War” also comes up.
Which seems about right.
Back in March, I wrote an article on Agile (the management strategy) for Logic Magazine. Some people have told me they've used it in the classroom. (Thank you!) I know that my students really like listening to things, so as an experiment, I've recorded myself reading it. You can listen or download here: https://archive.org/details/agile-and-the-long-crisis-of-software
I am doing perhaps the stupidest thing I've ever done, in the name of alt text and @1994clipart...
i made a little scraper to automatically fill out the form on defendkidstx.com (basically a website where you can call the cops on drag shows) with random text from Moby Dick.
feel free to use or contribute, would love it if someone better at this than me could help me beat the captchas: https://github.com/hobg0blin/defend_kids
protect trans people.
2023 is going to be the year of barghest mode.
@loriemerson @harrisj I ask myself all the time why I don’t wanna talk to strangers (with my voice) while I *write* to strangers all day long.
@loriemerson I got a ham radio license way back in middle school, and I remember stressing out most about the telegraphy test (not sure they still require you to learn Morse code). Ironically, I stopped doing ham radio because I hated talking to complete strangers!
@pfyfe @cforster @matthewharrison I wonder if the popularity of podcasts have erased distinctions in students' minds between printed books and audio books. Just so long as the students do end up referring to novels as "podcasts" (as they seem to currently refer to nonfiction works as "novels")!
Art is magic delivered from the lie of being truth.
