Hi all! We're the folks behind Co-op Cloud (https://coopcloud.tech), a project which aims to build out a digital configuration commons for tech co-ops and democratic tech collectives. Our approach aims to maximise sharing, co-operation and reuse for setting up and maintaining libre software infrastructure. We have a public matrix room at `#coopcloud:autonomic.zone`, feel welcome! The project is currently in public alpha and super young ☁️ 🎩 πŸ’»

lumbung calling: Generosity livestream

The fourth lumbung calling focuses on the lumbung value of Generosity. Spanning material and emotional realms, generosity, or the willingness to give, is vital in any ecosystem-building processes. It also poses a firm challenge against competition, rivalry, and rarityβ€”capitalist values that define contemporary life. In lumbung, generosity in imagining possibilities based on networking and collaboration abounds. It recognizes that knowledge is diverse, that it cannot be owned or claimed. Time and attention are inexhaustible resources in lumbung and thus should be generously shared in building more integrated ecosystems.

Resistance to privatisation has turned into a powerful force for change. (Re)municipalisation refers to the reclaiming of public ownership of services as well as the creation of new public services. Download "The Future is Public" by @tni here πŸ’™ πŸ‘‡

Hello the Internet and the Fediverse,

This account is dedicated to RadioGarage, a new interdisciplinary public space in Lviv, Ukraine. RadioGarage is part of the Lviv Radio municipal enterprise.

The meta-themes of RadioGarage include sound, art, techonogy and city.

We are going to be posting mostly in Ukrainian, but interactions in English are okay otherwise.

Big thanks to SoNoMu for hosting us on the Fediverse!

i say a limited capacity because the way it works on the typewriter is there's a separate key for the "word extension" glyph. it works but its not terribly interesting. the same is true of Unicode, where there's a code point (U+0640 ARABIC TATWEEL) which plays the same role.

compare that to the jaw dropping beauty of Ottoman maps that use the elasticity of the script to make labels of things cover and follow the thing they label. digital text rendering cant really do this...

Hi all, I've been lurking here for a while now, and hadn't got around to an intro post. I'm an artist/writer based in Leicester, UK. I just published a new thing bruise.in which is inspired and informed by a lot of the work I see posted in this network. It is an attempt at placing my fiction writing alongside my experimental publishing and network interests. There are three short novels available and some resources/ideas around e-pub research. πŸ™‹πŸ½

What is the best Mastodon / Fediverse iOS client at the moment?

Good stuff: A thesis that "addresses the obsolescence of technology through the lens of accessibility to public services. It explores the ageing processes of electronic devices in regards to a technological normativity that marginalizes owners of obsolete devices." by AnaΓ«lle Beignon

Not surprised to find @rra in the acknowledgements :unwanted_ok:

What is best from the audience point of view?

@ann a late but heartfelt thank you for all the work you put into this amazing project <3 loved the essays, the paper colors, the ASCII, putting good stories in envelopes and thinking about who to send them to, the idea of a nourishing network, such a hopeful name in such a challenging year :)

greentechfestival.com/ damn just found out about this today. Would be so nice to attend and livepost everything in the saltiest way. Disposable coffee pad manufacturer's CEO, Brian Adams, oil company representatives as speakers. Fantastic products such as Water 3.0, 'Urban gardening without a garden', 'following people to make cities greener', 'climate friendly advertising' and a strong showing from 5 luxury car brands and much more.

Tomorrow and Tuesday, the Computing within LIMITS workshop takes place.

I'm presenting a paper based on a discussion on Mastodon, started by @calcifer about terms related to sustainability and computing. I'm starting with a discussion of 3 historical terms from the 70s, rooted in anarchism, anti-technocratic critique and human-scale technologies, after which I dive into LIMITS related and grass roots terms, ideas and their associated practices.

Link to paper: computingwithinlimits.org/2021

Lurk instance is well represented, @rra is there, in paper session #3, with a discussion on degrowth and ICT, focusing on Low Tech Magazine's design choices and most importantly, why it sometimes goes offline:
