"Minister De Jonge announced this week that the government is not selling any land to Zeewolde for the time being. So the construction of Facebook's energy-guzzling #datacenter is fortunately one step further away.
We occupied the town hall in December and demonstrated together with farmers and citizens. In March we blocked the door to the Central Government Real Estate Agency. We are campaigning on social media. And campaigning works! Because Meta has postponed its arrival.
There is more! The opponents of the data center in #Zeewolde won big in the municipal elections. Objection procedures are underway. Critical questions are asked about the remarkably low land price when the municipality sold to a Meta shell company. That could be unwarranted governmental support, which could lead to the annulment of the deal.
The #Meta data center therefore seems less and less plausible. But we will continue to follow it, to prevent unexpected steps being taken by the municipality, the province, central government or Meta. If necessary, we will engage you again to take action with us. Hopefully it won't be necessary, but you never know. Thanks for now!"
