This summer I dropped my venerable (? 6 years old) #OnePlus 2 one time too many and the screen cracked. I intend to #repair it but it is hard to find the replacement part at a price I can justify. This has mostly to do with import duties and shipping etc on non-eu goods.
However, I found this interesting looking spare-part supplier based in #Slovakia: https://www.fixshop.eu/
Does anyone have experience with it? Or know of similar EU-based online stores with spare parts?
@piggo Thanks! I don't mind the wait as long as the parts are good etc
@rra Watch out for the little window for the proximity sensor on the top of the phone. I got an aftermarket screen for my oneplus 2 that lacked this window, and it causes surprisingly big problems. For example, I can no longer use the phone to call most commercial lines without a bluetooth headset, because the screen stays black during the call and I cannot select numbers for robot systems. And I could not hang up, so I had to map the power-button to hang up calls, which now leads to more accidental hang-ups. Etc! It's a tiny hardware detail that apparently some manufacturers forget
@seachaint good tip thanks
@seachaint @rra oh yeah mine has had problems with that too since I dropped it and the screen cracked there
I had to disable pocket mode to get my phone to work which is kinda annoying cause then it always ends up calling random numbers when it's in my pocket
https://shop.fairphone.com/en/spare-parts for Fairphone is quite nice :)
And ifixit: https://eustore.ifixit.com/collections/parts might also be useful :)
@rra I have had decent luck using eBay and filtering search to EU or germany-based sellers. Quality is a bit of a gamble but most of the established ones will not scam you.
@rra
Licing in Germany, I order electronic parts at #aliexpress mostly from China , and as long as I chose the Ali Express Standard Shipping (usually a little bit more expensive than other shipping methods), all goods arrive from an address in Germany, so no trouble with taxes.
