I've been having a *lot* of trouble finding a position on the RMS situation.
On one hand, I'm embarassed as a privileged person for having disregarded my friends' comments on his unacceptable behaviours, preferring my much more comfortable view of RMS as a weird hero. I believe the complaints and think they should be acted upon.
On the other hand, I'm very wary of the calls for ostracism. I really don't think banishment is the right way to deal with problems in any community. I also think the original denouncing blog post clearly went through specific efforts to associate Stallman with much worse behaviours than it's fair to charge him with.
I don't enjoy public ranting, but I'm still having issues on where to stand. I'd love some help thinking this through.
Dear fellow educators: Do you have any advice regarding self-hosting a server for students in a teaching context? Any no-nos or warnings from people who've been there?
We're now setting up a self-hosted tilde.club-like web server for teaching code and web design. We'd love any insight if you have it!

Free software, post-RMS
In the meanwhile, we have some difficult work in front of us; while again I think RMS stepping down was completely correct, we can at least say that RMS was stubbornly principled. Right now if you look at the OSI license lists, I think you can see a lot of people trying to chip away at the principles of FOSS, maybe even unintentionally.
We need to re-examine and clearly be able to articulate the reasons we are taking these positions ourselves.
It is not exactly new story and I am not sure if this made the rounds in fediverse but a few days ago #archiveofourown won the hugo award on best related work. We have a huge #FLOSS community here but we don't talk nearly enough about this project.
#ao3 is an unique opensourced project that is not male dominated and also not started by people who were fulltime engineers but fans who decided enough is enough and we need to own our servers.
Congrats to Ao3!
Are you as surprised as I am to find out that the founder of 8chan is now designing libre fonts? https://github.com/ctrlcctrlv/
