@Lyrilith If you have not run into them yet, the collective OSP¹ has quite a bit of experience with this topic. Some of them are on the fedi: @crickxson @smag @Ludi
@wendy @praxeology @Lyrilith also all the prepostprint network. prepostprint.org
@smag @wendy @praxeology @Lyrilith I'll add https://www.lafkon.net/ and http://freeze.sh/_/about/ to the list.
@xuv @smag @praxeology @Lyrilith --- and https://chchch.de/ part of Lafkon, more focused on print! This thread is great!
@xuv @smag @praxeology @Lyrilith andd http://www.luuse.io/ - @raphael we should not forget your work & can you have a peak?
@wendy @xuv @smag @praxeology @Lyrilith I have posted this small list of studio working exclusively with floss.
https://twitter.com/prepostprint/status/1321761566069501954 This is to be complete and confirmed.
Also @julienbidoret made this arena block https://www.are.na/julien-bidoret/libre-studios-designers
There is also 100rabits ( @Rek and @neauoire ) it is closer to an artistic practice but they build singular creative tools. The problem with this is what defines exacly the “design industry”
@raphael @wendy @xuv @smag @praxeology @Lyrilith @julienbidoret @Rek We try as much as we possibly can to not participate in the design industry altogether.
@neauoire @raphael @xuv @smag @praxeology @Lyrilith @julienbidoret @Rek
I think we can safely state that most collectives/designers mentioned here get design work from the socio-cultural sector. From the 'progressive' corner, people who are interested in the process and the tools.
Please comment / add information
@wendy @raphael @xuv @smag @praxeology @Lyrilith @julienbidoret @Rek One might choose to use FOSS tools, to design commodities to be traded and sold in the design market, or cater to the design sector as a whole. I think that is the perspective the OP is looking for. We don't have any insights on that aspect.
