I tried meet.jit.si for and it worked without any issues (a bit of latency shifting between video and sound at times, but no big deal). No account needed.

Contrasting with where sound was garbled (not to mention the major privacy concerns) and which also had sound issues (and needed a phone number for account activation SMS).

I think I'll see if I can get my parents to install chromium and try jitsi.

@mathr with Jitsi Meet you'll run into limits to numbers of participants (supports up to about 8)... for more, the best #FOSS solutions I've found is BigBlueButton. If you haven't seen it, I've got an instance running here in NZ, and am making it broadly available for anyone to test... send an email to workfromhome@nzoss.nz if you want to try it for yourself.

@mathr Jitsi also works just fine on Firefox, unlike Zoom!
