#darktable 3.4 will not be shipped with translations for Chinese, Arabic, Hindi and Bengali, even though they are among the 10 most spoken languages in the World, for lack of complete translation.

Some translation like zh_CN are "only" missing 1257 strings (meaning the rest is already done).

To help translators, we have put up a short guide: https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/wiki/Translating-darktable

It's not too late to help translating darktable 3.4.1.

There is one person trying to work full time on @darktable - @aurelienpierre - let's get his liberapay over $200/week!

We only need 17 people to pledge one euro/week to get there!

Be kind to your contemporary peers, resist pressure to turn your discoveries into forbidden knowledge that is banned from being freely used or built upon for the next couple of decades. Let others be inspired, stand your your shoulders and see further, make prior art not patents.

Le très beau et très juste travail de Thierry Fournier qui pourrait aussi s'appeler : "Interdiction de filmer les violences policières puisqu'elles n'existent pas" #PPLSecuriteGlobale

I forgot to report that things are progressing well! This is the book. #Scribus has come a long way and it can now handle Sinhala Unicode so well. Thanks #mooniak for the gorgeous Abhaya Libre font!

UX research question from Adam:

Which behaviour would you expect ?
(see gif in reply)

I found a way to make variable fonts with free softwares only. It requires Fontforge and two Python modules (AFDKO and fontmake). My code here: https://gitlab.com/ameliedumont/fonts/tree/master/ReHershey/Variable%20fonts/Contour%20VF

And we've got a new feature release! Krita 4.3.0 is out for Linux, Windows, MacOS and as a beta still, for Android: https://krita.org/en/item/krita-4-3-0-released/

Gotta say, it's kind of soothing to fix something that's been broken and/or missing in my Laidout software since around 2007, namely being able to fill paths with gradients comfortably. Gradients also now import well from svg.
