the aim is not to produce acclaim-worthy posts that make you stand out on the timeline. the aim is to post at the same resonant frequency as other users in the shoal, creating confusing patterns to deter killer whales and other large predators

Benjamin Peters in his talk yesterday at Utrecht University: "Like technologies, every theory disappoints! They can be reductive - and reduce knowledge. Our challenge is to let evidence break apart theories."

Trying to ratchet up some discussion around Mastodon & public service media. @robertwgehl & I wrote up a call for the CBC to get on Mastodon: https://theconversation.com/canadas-public-broadcaster-should-use-mastodon-to-provide-a-social-media-service-194116 For folks following along, this is my latest version of my "Canada should nationalize Reddit" trope I find in all my commentary.

Mastodon #introduction ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ โ—๏ธ I'm a designer-artist-educator working on making the internet a safer environment, and a place of joy and play. Also I write/draw/publish indie comics and zines, particularly the non-fiction kind ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŽจ

I just co-authored my first book and it just came out, so I've been doing a season of promos for it โ€” check out a trailer for it ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ and for more info ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ https://hanmoji.org

#introduction
Iยดm Hito in Berlin, a person formerly known as filmmaker.
Havent been on social media for the past years for obvious reasons and look forward to discuss very diverse issues from post documentary to future everything. Keywords: digital image generation, essay film, ML visual modes of production, blockchain (winter), urban history, German racial histories and their present. Might also digress into neolithic archaeology, quantum physics or other stuff i know nothing about, sorry.

As I moved over to the hcommons.social server a bit of an #introduction. I am a cultural and media theorist working across the fields of (book) publishing and digital culture. My research explores the future of scholarly communications and experimental forms of knowledge production, incorporating processual and performative publishing, #radicalOA, scholarly poethics, media studies, book history, cultural studies, and critical theory. I am an Associate Professor at The Centre for Postdigital Cultures at Coventry University where I currently oversee the post-publishing research theme and co-lead on the COPIM project (Community-Led Open Publication Infrastructures for Monographs). I also support various publishing projects & collectives, including the Radical Open Access Collective, Open Humanities Press, the Open Book Collective, and Post Office Press. I also published an openly available monograph, Living Books. Experiments in the Posthumanities (MIT Press 2021) https://mitpress.mit.edu/9780262046022/living-books/
