Played some Diablo II again these days, together with friends, "for old times' sake" and well, lockdown, so whatever. Been an eternity since I last played, yet it took only like 3 evenings of playing (spread over a few weeks even) to (re-)establish some completely mindless, addictive grinding/looting behavior, interfering even with long-conditioned daily motivation and reward cycles. No idea if ethics in terms of purposely non-addictive game design is a thing in game curricula nowadays already, but it definitely should be.
