There is evidence that #Amazon has responded to the high price of warehouse space in eastern Europe by loading goods on trucks and driving them between warehouses effectively using the trucks as additional, mobile storage apace. Things are being moved by human-driven petrol vehicles instead of building more buildings. #AMRO22
@celesteh "just in time" is the same principle, pushing storage costs further into the supply chain.
Hey @celesteh, that's a well known problem afaik.
This https://blog.fefe.de/?ts=9fb5b288 says in one german logistics company, in most trucks 70% of the load is in the truck as storage space, not because it needs to go there. Because storing it in the rolling truck is cheaper than in a warehouse.
One more sign we need to stop upgrading streets.
@celesteh I'll keep this in mind should somebody else mention the ability of free market to cater to all the humanity's needs.
