I am the last person alive who prefers email lists to (non-federated) web forums.
Every email list migrated is a community I lose forever.
@celesteh I *would* prefer them, if anyone ever used them or if there was solid investment in mailing list UI
@yaxu To be honest, I hardly ever post these days. But do sometimes read.
I just don't ever check web forums - maybe once or twice, but it quickly gets downed out in a sea of tabs and competing information. My only hope of keeping up would be if it federated to my mastodon account.
I know there's a real difference between "inaccessible" and "unaccessed" philosophically, but the material result is extremely similar.
This trend towards web forum coupled with the UK's #OnlineSafetyBill is also going to pose a very serious problem as to who hosts things.
