What did time look like before the uniformity brought by networked devices? Is the circadian rhythm obsolete? How is software shaping and in turn being shaped by different understandings of temporality? What if wasting time on videogames is actually a productive and edifying habit?
With a remote contribution by Italian designer Michele Galluzzo, and together with Dutch designer Rik Laging, “neurophysical designer” Luis Rodil-Fernández, a delegation of the Techno-Galactic Guide to Software Observation (Hans Lammerant, Mia Melvaer and Martino Morandi) and XPUB (the Experimental Publishing program of the Piet Zwart Institute), we will tackle these and more questions during an evening dedicated both to the malleability and rigidity of time.

Woodstone Kugelblitz in collab with @rra : "On the weekend of the 23rd of November in collaboration with Woodstone Kugelblitz varia organises a convivial book sprint to make a Really Useful Knowledge Cookbook. A manual to be more an actor and less a consumer in your day to day affairs. The cookbook brings together recipes and instructions from the practice and theory of daily life.
For this cookbook we are still looking for recipes! This is DIY-advice, tips and tricks that should become part of this recipe book. We already have recipes about raising toddlers without diapers, blocking online advertising and making of hot sauce based on lactic fermentation!
~~~ Please submit your recipes by mail or post by the 22nd of November. ~~~
You can also drop by during the weekend to say hi, browse the archive of l'intolerant, see the collection of printing equipment, join for dinner (pls rsvp if you do the latter!) or join us during the concert.
The concert is on the evening of saturday the 24th of november (20:00 - 23:00) with improv music by Bohman Family and no-wave reli-pop by Cantos Deus:
For people working on ActivityPub implementations I just wrapped up a nice chat with the folks of https://homebrewserver.club in Amsterdam (@manetta @rra and others). It was all via document editing and you can read the whole thing starting at line 188 in this document
It's a bit disorganized and I think they are going to digest it into a blog post or similar but for now this may be helpful to people who are puzzling their way through ActivityPub implementation!
@rra @xuv @crickxson @KnowPresent Hey! As a follow up on this thread... We're currently in this homebrewserver.club meeting, with active chatting about ActivityPub in the xmpp groupchat (firstname.lastname@example.org) and also some action on the pad that we used for previous sessions (pad.vvvvvvaria.org/ap). In case you would like to jump in and join the conversation! :)
Olia Lialina live in Berlin tonight reading an excerpt from 2017's Bear With Me (A play for two webmasters starring Kevin Bewersdorf) at the launch of Asymmetrical Response, with Cory Archangel and others reading excerpts from WIRED magazine's epicly optimistic 1997 article 'The Long Boom: A History of the Future, 1980 - 2020'.
During the trust <in> formation workshop we will take the ORES project as an inspiration for machine learning done ethically: transparency in the decision making process and stimulation of multiplicity of uses.
Instead of "post-truth" algorithms, we'll make the jump to "post-trust" algorithms: the workshop looks at the reasons why Wikipedia is currently seen as a trustable source of information mainly built through collaboration. It's not only trusted by humans, but also by machine learning developers: many models use its articles to train or test on. The fact that Wikipedia has its in-house team working on machine learning is a less known fact: the ORES project.
The workshop will provide a practical experiment in which the participants are invited to write together under the watch of the ORES models and prove their good faith.
