--- Call for Subscriptions ---
Especially in this moment of reduced mobility and physical encounters, we are excited to launch this playful publishing experiment, which will circulate throughout a community that usually gathers in small-sized events and festivals.
You can subscribe to the RSS, Atom or postal feed :) here:
If you subscribe to the postal feed you will receive multiple packages, including extra copies of the essays and means to forward these one step further.
The feed departs from the following questions:
- Another lost occasion for degrowth?
- Re-centralization or blooming alternatives?
- Artdiversity loss: is now Zoom the best art gallery 2020?
ps. You can also subscribe to the feed on Mastodon, by following this account:
Dystopian 1962 pro-DDT essay from Monsanto
In 1962, Monsanto released an essay called “The Desolate Year” describing an entire year in the US without the use of pesticides (DDT in particular), in which “the garotte of nature rampant began to tighten”. Worth a read for the gripping description of the destruction of (female) monstrous bugs and the final reports on DDT as a life saver. #monsanto https://iseethics.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/monsanto-magazine-1962-the-desolate-yeart.pdf

Zine launch announcement
Delighted to announce that Magiun #1 is finally out, in digital form, and can be seen, read and commented upon at https://magiun.online
Magiun is a magazine about everyday food. This first edition deals with eating in isolation - the struggles, the joys, the unexpected discoveries, the newly added anxieties.
food politics, fruit trademarks
Fascinating/horrifying read on fruit trademarks in the US: “The benefit to consumers of managed fruits is that ‘they receive a good consistent quality product under that brand and know they can trust it.’” https://thecounter.org/intellectual-property-trademark-ip-law-fruit-cosmic-crisp-cotton-candy-grapes/

open call for food zine
In the midst of our collective quarantine, I’m fighting against my lack of motivation by putting out an open call for a zine. My relationship with food/eating/cooking has changed dramatically in these weeks of physical distancing, and I want to document my experience alongside that of others. Looking for text, images, lists, recipes, for a digital zine which will be shared freely. Please share this fwd. More info here: https://zine.alicestrete.me/
