"Securely and anonymously share files of any size. A web server is started, making OnionShare accessible as a Tor Onion Service, potentially temporarily or in a stealthy manner, over the Internet. An unguessable address is generated and is shared for the recipient to open in the Tor Browser to download the files. No separate server or third party file-sharing service required. You host the files on your own computer."

There's a GUI, but the CLI is so good, just `onionshare somestuff.bin` and you get a temporary onion service serving a static password protected website with the file made available. By default once the file has been downloaded, everything shuts down.

we're currently commissioning for the COMMONS issue of Logic (, due out winter of this year.

know anyone we should speak with, either about commissioning a written piece in their area of expertise (lived and/or academic) or for an interview? or just interesting things we might cover? plz let me know!

pitch deadline is August 15th—directions and rates are at the link above.

🔐 ⚠️ Password manager migration

Completed migration from LastPass to KeePassXC. Feeling much better about having a local database.

Fun fact: the .CSV export from LastPass is very messy. It randomly swaps ";" for "," in some passwords which has the double effect of:
1. Messing up the CSV fields
2. Not being the actual character that was in the password

Had to correct it all by hand because it only happens in *some* passwords while others are properly enclosed in quotes when they contain that character.
+ testing KeePassDX on mobile with Syncthing to sync the database

The Twitter hack is the latest in a long line of failures of centralised platforms. Regardless, the decentralised community underestimates resilience of these platforms and remains dangerously unprepared for the wolves that howl at the door of our users.

"This is Fine": Optimism and Emergency in the Decentralised Network.

📖 As good a time as any to finish reading Infinite Detail by and say that it's a brilliant work of art that speaks to the current moment (Twitter attack, 2020 in general) like no other fiction I have encountered. Highly recommend!
