"There鈥檚 also pressure for every worker to justify their worth; they are, after all, employees, who need to be perceived as earning their salaries."

Developers do need to be perceived as earning their salaries (or w.e). This isn't a "crisis" it's just reality.

@Literally what I took away from the piece is that this perception of "worth" is shaped by the methods employed to measure it.

Someone can be very good at daily stand-up meetings while not bringing much value, or the other way around. It's easy to see how agile methods can be weaponised in toxic settings. This is also true of any management system
