ITT I slowly assemble a synth kit I received 11 years ago. Better late than never
Session 1 progress
session 2 progress
Session 3 progress
Session 4 progress
session 5 progress
session 6 progress
All the ICs in place, flashed the latest MIDIbox SID Synth V2 firmware and some standard presets. I only have one SID chip to test for now, but everything seems to work.
Session 7 progress
Paint lettering thingie 1/3
Session 8 progress
Paint lettering thingie 6/3 (took more layers than planned, still no idea if this is going to work) + added a second SID chip
Session 9 progress
@320x200 cake 🍰 reference on PCB?
Congratulations on endurance ✨✨
@320x200 does this use 2 SID chips and one control CPU?
@320x200 oh nice the row of folded down caps.
@320x200 48 LEDs?! Is it a sequencer too?
There is indeed a mode/engine that gives you an XOX style sequencer. But I think the LEDs are mostly used as vue-meter bling for the 6 oscillators (3 per SID chip). We shall see soon enough :)
@320x200 the lettering turned out super nice!
@rra it did! I had very little faith.. but seems like it's a good technique after all.
@320x200 make some noise!!
@suroh not echo yet, but gonna post some samples soon!
@320x200 what's the synth?
@suroh hints in the pic of the second post of this thread... 🔍
@320x200 yes I see it now :) looking forward to the upcoming album!
@320x200 or an echoechoecho live stream?
@suroh haha, yes... at least a session where I go through hundreds of presets with the same seq loop :)
@320x200 so long as your turning all the knobs with a flourish its a gig
@suroh true true
@simoon oh I was wondering about these. Is it good? If I understood correctly you can write your own DSP software for it or something like that?
@320x200 I love mine so far - it's quite powerful & has built in effects for chorus, delay and reverb that you can chain with other devices. The keyboard is pretty useless as it's so tiny, I've been using a 1/8 inch jack as a stylus. Not sure if you can write your own DSP software, but there is SDK code you can use to make new oscillators & effects. Pretty good for under 100EUR
