All the ICs in place, flashed the latest MIDIbox SID Synth V2 firmware and some standard presets. I only have one SID chip to test for now, but everything seems to work.
@automatist There is indeed a mode/engine that gives you an XOX style sequencer. But I think the LEDs are mostly used as vue-meter bling for the 6 oscillators (3 per SID chip). We shall see soon enough :)
@320x200@theruran oohh nice!! looking good! I’m starting to order everything I need to build a MIDIbox MB-6582. Got PCBs, panels, SIDs, burned PICs, a few other things… gotta order all the small electronic components now - the “fun” part 😅
@320x200@theruran haha! yeah, I actually bought four 6582A’s from Wilba years ago at a price of I think $25AUD each. Pretty nice deal I think, compared to today’s prices! I’ll just stick with these for now tho, to start with!
@amatecha@theruran Aaaah I see. Indeed that helps a lot :) I think I'll just bite the bullet to get a second one for the Sammich to be complete, and will stick with that for now. Was already quite impressed with only one chip while going through the default presets.
@320x200 I love mine so far - it's quite powerful & has built in effects for chorus, delay and reverb that you can chain with other devices. The keyboard is pretty useless as it's so tiny, I've been using a 1/8 inch jack as a stylus. Not sure if you can write your own DSP software, but there is SDK code you can use to make new oscillators & effects. Pretty good for under 100EUR
